English term

front-heavy

Homework / test English to Spanish Art/Literary Tourism & Travel guidebook
Nowadays there are definitely plenty of wild boars about. They are nocturnal and rarely spotted but I’ve seen evidence of their digging in many places, some as close as fifty metres from our house, on the lower slopes of the ridge opposite. In several years of walking in the area I’ve twice seen boar during the day, albeit both times on late afternoons in December, just before dusk. On each occasion the encounter took place high on the slopes of Cerro de los Lobos.

Once, in the gully leading up to the col between the two main summits, two adults and two young were making their way upwards. I’m sure they knew I was there, twenty metres higher up the slope, but they seemed unconcerned.

The second incident was just before Christmas 2011. A rustling in the undergrowth stopped me and I was treated to the sight of a huge adult boar, front-heavy, close enough for the bristly nature of its coat to be clearly visible, moving away along one of the narrow contouring paths they have worn across the mountainside. Every few seconds it stopped, sniffed the air, snuffled and moved unhurriedly on.

Discussion

Antonio Berbel Garcia (asker) Mar 24, 2022:
Front-heavy means disproportionately heavier at the front. In the case of an animal, the part at the front is generally going to be heavier than the rear mainly because of the head, but what this means is that the front part is a lot bulkier than normal.

caveza poderosa/formidable
