I'm translating some health & safety documentation for staff of a catering company. Under a section called "Règles élémentaires en production":
- Désinfecter la zone de production (charriot, tapis, …) entre chaque changement de production et en fin de production conformément aux procédures de nettoyage et en utilisant les produits recommandés sur cette procédure
- Veiller à ce que les mises en place soient reprises par les magasiniers après utilisation

What might "mises en place" mean here?

I see it could possibly be: the "magasiniers" (employees) are to "put everything back as it was" after said equipment has been disinfected.

@ Wolf Sorry, there really is no further context, as the other rules mentioned here are about not leaving any boxes lying around the production area, disinfecting the production area, following safety instructions and avoiding cross-contamination. The only other mention of magasiniers is in the next "rule": - Ne pas circuler dans les frigos et stocks, s’adresser aux magasiniers (so they're not external). There's one more example of "mises en place", though it's just as mysterious. Under the heading "Règles élémentaires en matière de risques allergènes : éviter les contaminations croisées", the first one is: "- absence d'emballage, d'étiquettes et de matières premières / mises en place des productions précédentes".

@ Asker I'm pretty sure that here it is referring globally to "everything that has been got out ready to prepare the dish" — so both ingredients and utensils, etc.
'Mise en place' is generally 'prep', but clearly here it is being used as a concrete noun.

More context? Online searches in French for mise en place indicate the term refers to the entire setup to get ready to cook and serve. So, preparing all the food, setting up all the equipment, laying the tables if applicable, the whole shebang.

It's not clear from the excerpt if we're talking about some of that prep or all of it. Also, what are magasiniers here? Surely not storekeepers. Firms that rent out equipment or tables/chairs or cutlery/crockery?

Mises En Place I think that the phrase, in this case, might actually refer back to the section heading, "Règles élémentaires en production". If so, the term to be translated would mean, more specifically, that certain established protocols and rules that have been "mises en place", must be followed/adhered to, in relation to certain unused foodstuffs and products. So I think the phrase refers more to the rules that have to be followed, each and every time, than to the foodstuffs and food products themselves.

You could leave it in French if this were a posh restaurant, but it's not.

As I said in my discussion comment, a high-class restaurant might well use the French term, but that's not appropriate to a catering company.
