You are right, it is the shell shown in the illustration.

In the other document, "Wölbung" refers to curvature of the shell. You could understand the phrase as "A flat shell arch/dome/cupola rises less, 10 % curvature should be preferred or aimed for ".
This could mean that a flat arch is more stable than a more curved one, and withstands heat better, a well-known effect in mechanics. More contexts would be required for evidencing/verification of the effect.

In conclusion, I think that "shell cleaning" is the closest equivalent. Another document in the batch includes the following: "Ein flaches Gewölbe stellt sich weniger auf, 10 % Wölbung ist anzustreben."

The correct term is 'shell' in machinery or for cars. 'vault' is used primarily in building constructions. 'roof' is also for buildings.

You are quite right, I also consider the vault being part of the machinery, probably connected to the heat exchanger. That is why I asked Michelangela for details about the system, even though she has already closed the question. I just hope that she will still provide this information and we can give a more reliable answer.

If I understood the question correctly, this is not about cleaning vaults, but about a mechanical system that works with post-heating exchangers, possibly with tube bundles. In this case, one should not look for structural references, but mechanical ones. Phil had already expressed doubts in his comment.

Question: Is this really about cleaning vaults? Then the answer would be correct, otherwise it would be wrong. To be able to judge this better, I would ask for more context on the installation, especially on the process of "vault cleaning" and the type of "vault".

I would never work with "first validated answers" for such questions and strange designations, because you don't know whether the colleagues commenting are well versed or simply agree without thinking.

Johannes does have a point that the third item seems rather different to the first two, though I don't agree with his translation. I wonder if Gewölbe could be part of a machine.
