Spanish term or phrase: plises
SPAIN. This appears in a list of software strings featuring hair products. I know that in other contexts that can mean pleats or folds, but am puzzled as to its meaning in the context of hair lotions.

styling product
Explanation:
It appears to be a lotion/gel/serum that you apply to your hair before drying.

It can be to add colour:

to set a style:

The English translation here is 'setting vials'

to add volume

... and probably for other purposes too.

Not that I necessarily trust Ebay translations but ...

Bio Rosa Styling Gel has been created for styling need requiring average hold. The formula contains a conditioner which adds a final touch to the style protects it from environmental humidity making it last longer.

The original Spanish product is called Salerm Plis Bio Rosa.

I have suggested 'product' as this is used by hairdressers and covers a wide variety of possibilites

Whatever your look, we have a hair styling product to suit you. Choose from hair and curl creams, gels, clays, lotions and puttys to get your hair on point. Or care for your locks with edge control and detanglers.

You're right, it is quite vague - but when I did my research it seemed to cover a wide variety of product types - all used on wet hair before drying. Maybe a hairdresser will pop up and put us right : )

Notes to answerer
Asker: That seems a bit vague, but I'll wait and see if any other suggestions come in...

Asker: My Spanish colleague explained what it is, says it's no longer widely used, so in the end your suggestion, although it seems rather broad, may have to suffice.

agree  Robert Carter: Probably about right, it seems to be a very general term, possibly from: "plisar: Hacer que una tela o cosa flexible quede formando pliegues." https://dle.rae.es/plisar
