French term

reste régulier

French to English Medical Medical (general) Brain MRI
Hi,
I have the following sentence: "Cet épaississement des méninges reste régulier"
I don't think we talk about "regular thickening" in this context.
Thanks
Joanna

Discussion

joanna menda (asker) Mar 22:
Thanks for the lead Phil! I think the correct word here might be "uniform"
philgoddard Mar 22:
I don't think 'happening on a regular basis' makes sense here. 'Even' is more likely.
joanna menda (asker) Mar 22:
Thanks Victoria and TDV. Further on I have "Épaississement pachyméningé régulier diffus" if that helps.
reste régulier Depending on context, are we speaking about the thickening of the meninges being of an even appearance, or happening on a regular basis?

If it is the former, I would speak of an "even" thickening.

TDVTrans Mar 22:
does sound a bit odd in this context I would translate this as "remains within normal limits" or even "remains unremarkable"

is uniform

For your other phrase, I'd use "uniform diffuse pachymeningeal thickening/enhancement"

Ref:

"Uniform diffuse pachymeningeal thickening and enhancement, associated with distension of the dural venous sinuses and minimal downward displacement of the splenium of the corpus callosum "droopy penis sign".

remains constant

Assuming the thickening of the meninges is what's being constant (in time) here.
Example sentence:

The thickening of the meninges remains constant.

persists consistently (is consistent).

Another proposal: This swelling of the meninges persists consistently (is consistent).
