topeind

In order to chit a potato, it needs to be placed with its eye-end, or rose end, at the top and its heel-end at the bottom. Although there will be eyes on both ends of most potatoes, what is called the eye-end has more. With careful inspection it may be seen that the heel-end bears a small scar which is where the parent tuber was attached

Dank je wel, Ghislaine.
Goede keuze volgens mij, omdat

Apical = apicaal
= met betrekking tot het uiteinde/de apex
apicale cel, apicale dominantie (Van Dale).

apical: (botany, of a meristem) situated at the growing tip of the plant or its roots, in comparison with intercalary growth situated between zones of permanent tissue

Tuber eye
The buds from which next season's growth will emerge. Eyes are concentrated near the apical end of the tuber, with fewer near the stolon or basal end. Eye number and distribution are characteristic of the variety
Growth stage 3.
Approximately 30-60 days after the seed tuber is planted, tuber formation begins. Ttubers are derived from lateral underground buds developing at the base of the main stem that when kept underground develop into stolons due to diagravitropical growth. When the conditions are favorable for tuber initiation, the elongation of the stolon stops, and cells located in the pith and the cortex of the apical region of the stolon first enlarge and then later divide longitudinally. The combination of these processes results in the swelling of the subapical part of the stolon

Morphologically tubers are modified stems and constitute the main storage organs of the potato plant. A tuber has two ends: the heel end is attached to the stolon, the opposite end is called either the apical, rose or distal end.
The eyes are spirally arranged on the tuber surface and concentrated towards the apical end
