English term

car allowance program

Discussion

Chris Hopley Apr 14, 2009:
outsourcing of company car management Companies like Runzheimer structure and administrate car allowance programmes on behalf of companies as an alternative to standard company car arrangements.
Company car plan = employer leases car, provides it to employee for fixed period, all drivers take same tax hit regardless of actual car use.
Company car allowance = customised programme where each driver is given a tax-optimised amount to cover (the business-related component of) the cost of running their vehicle, managed in many cases by a company like Runzheimer.

But, what is it? Is one reimbursed for their driving expenses under such a program? Who reimburses what to whom? Who benefits? Which parties are involved? Is it a deal between the employer and the car allowance program supplier, or between the latter and the employee? Does it concern the employee's own car, or a company car? Finally, do we have such a thing in the Netherlands?

autovergoeding/autokostenvergoeding

“Reiskostenvergoeding” is too broad, imho; that may also refer to travel expenses by other means of transport than a car.

Have a look at the following links and examples on “car allowance”:

“I’ve just gotten a new job that gives me a €14k car allowance as part of the package so I’m looking for ideas on what to go for. I by no means have to spend all the allowance on a new car each year…”

“The number of company cars offered as a perk has dropped, with more organisations offering a cash alternative instead….Such changes include the provision of cash allowances in place of company cars and modifications to the car/car allowance values.”

“We recently revised our policy on providing company vehicles to sales managers with the following Automobile Allowance Policy:
Regional Sales Managers will receive an automobile allowance of $550 per month, which is intended to cover the cost of Financing or lease payments on the automobile; registration fees; Insurance; Maitenance & Repairs. “

1. Take on an existing lease car ….
2. Take out a new lease car of my choice and …..
3. Take a car allowance worth £6500 per year and buy my own car.

reiskostenvergoeding

Het zou een werkgeversregeling kunnen zijn voor reiskostenvergoeding woon-werkverkeer, eigenlijk ongeveer zoals in NL
