If we increase the value of cut start cam we have a situation like the one of pack A while if we decrease this value we have a situation like the one of pack C.

On pourrait même dire came de coupe. Vue en coupe, une came est comme une petite bosse sur un cercle (la tête d'un nounours avec une seule oreille). Ce cercle (en fait une arbre de commande) tourne. Dans votre exemple, lorsque l'oreille (la came) arrive en appui sur un contact, la coupe a lieu. Dans la culasse d'un moteur thermique (voiture), les cames de l'arbre à cames (camshaft) vont appuyer sur les culbuteurs des soupapes et à tour de rôle commander l'admission (intake) et l'échappement (exhaust).
