Spelling Well, under UK and Australian English settings my spellchecker accepts both versions. Under US, it complains about "movEable" and suggest removing the E. Your choice.

I concur too. Especially since French version also talks about "mobilier fixe" it would be more natural to translate the lot as moveable and unmoveable furniture.

I agree with you, Elizabeth, and if you put that as an answer it would get my vote. I hope my views aren't too influenced by the fact that I live in New Orleans, where "floating furniture" means tables and chairs bobbing up and down on a tide of sewage.

Movable furniture I would definitely go with your suggestion. "Floating furniture" does seem to exist but it can also refer to furniture that hangs from the ceiling or somehow doesn't touch the floor. I think here it means movable as opposed to unmovable (or fixed).
