: Yes for "ungraded", but don't think your explanation makes sense. Potatoes that are too large or too small or the wrong shape to be graded by supermarkets.// The "transformeur" will pay less for them because they are ungraded and they won't go to waste.

The "calibre" is the size of the fruit. Besides this characteristic, fruit can be graded and sorted on the basis of colour, of lack or presence of spots and perhaps on the basis of other characteristics. Then of course, grading takes place before, or just before sorting out. So the context should be taken into consideration between the operation and the result.
