French term

emprunts de noblesse

French to English Social Sciences Anthropology
Hi all
This is a text about African masks. Here's the complete sentence.

Ce sont les masques les plus populaires, emprunts de noblesse, leur présence parmi les villageois a un caractère magique et apportent la prospérité et la fécondité.

Thanks chris well it's quite obvious now you've all pointed it out...and yes, I do feel rather silly. Many thanks to all - now I have to work out who I'll give the points to! I don't suppose we're allowed to share them out? :-)
Chris Hall Apr 8, 2010:
Same her Gilla... see my question: datant de mois de 15 jours

which should have been "datant de MOINS de 15 jours".

I felt very silly indeed posting the question.

definitely "empreints" - marks or signs of nobility. I wish I had a pound for every typo that causes an unnecessary racking of the brains...
