The source text seems to be a machine translation from some other language - how else would it say "protégées *par* le feu ..." when most people would want to protect "contre" le feu ?
With an ST of such dubious quality we'd do better to rely on logic rather than linguistics, and try to suggest what the (original) author may have said.
My guess is that he said: "The trusses (or whatever the 'charpente' is in this context) are treated against fire on site, at owner's expense."
