self-disengaging

Suggestion.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Chris Hall : Where do you get "self" from?

neutral Bourth (X) : Quite probably IS self-disengaging, otherwise someone might get their wrists broken if the thing has not been disengaged, but it needn't be explicit if the French isn't.

manual clutch

It's tempting to use "declutchable", but let's not be silly! Pneumatic or electrohydraulic clutches are used to used to engage (or disengage) big fans, and I would try to work "clutch" in as sounding more natural from an engineering (and linguistic) point of view.

If you disengage two of these handwheels simultaneously, are you double declutching? (younger generations excused for not understanding).

agree chris collister : So, "declutchable" DOES exist?? Not the prettiest word in the book.
