French term

"fiche d'identité de solde"

French to English Art/Literary History WWII military pay
Memoirs of a Frenchman in WWII. It is October 1945, and the writer is nearing demobilization. He receives papers to allow him to be demobilized, as his regiment has been dissolved.
One of these papers is the "fiche d'identité de solde". I have seen pictures of this type of thing - not a booklet, just a single sheet but wondered if it might be equivalent to the "soldier's pay book"?
Thank you in advance!

thanks to all! thanks for all the references which helped me. and thanks to all for your time!
katsy (asker) May 30, 2012:
@dipenney thanks for that! I had seen the picture of the pay book as in gallagy2 reference; I also found a picture of the "fiche d'identité de solde' (not too legible) My problem being that one is a paper, the other a booklet. But it seems to be almost equivalent. My "narrator" does not describe nor explain it, he just said he was given it. I wonder whether to leave it in French and explain it is a paper equivalent to the pay book.
Di Penney May 30, 2012:
Soldier's Pay Book My father was in the British Army during WW2. I've still got his his pay book which was called an AB64 and bears the title 'Soldier's Pay Book' on the front. It contains not just pay details, but other information such as training records, leave records, medical data, next of kin, etc. It does seem to be the nearest equivalent document.

Army pay book

This term seems to be used quite often when referring to this document belonging to WW2 army troops.

pay factor card

It doesn't sound too good but that's the idea. Said card includes all factors used to calculate that soldier's pay: his rank, seniority, marital status, number of kids, etc.

or this release form or "demob paper" (which notably puts soldier onto ATS unemployment list)

"adjusted service ratings card" were what were issued to US troops to allow them go home (scroll down here) but this seems to be more about securing some sort of payment for them upon demob.
