French term

communication globale

French to English Marketing Marketing
This is part of someone's job description: "Expérience de consultant en marketing et communication globale." This seems to describe a particular kind of marketing expertise, which from what I understand encompasses four elements: Communication produit/marque, corporate, entreprise, et institutionelle.

I'm sure there's a standard English marketing term for this, but I can't seem to track it down. Global communications would suggest something worldwide, while I believe this is meant to be something comprehensive.

Any ideas?

Discussion

Diana Huet de Guerville (asker) Nov 17, 2011:
I think I'll actually go with the suggestion to leave out the global - it really doesn't seem essential to translation, and as someone else said, consultants can call themselves just about anything!
Diana Huet de Guerville (asker) Nov 13, 2011:
This is all the context I have unfortunately, since it's in chart form - just a list of this person's experience. I gleaned the meaning from looking up the term in French, which is where I discovered that it typically seems to encompass those 4 skills. But could not for the life of me figure out an equivalent in English.

Context You say "from what I understand" - does it actually say elsewhere in the document that "communication globale" means "produit/marque, corporate, entreprise, et institutionelle"?

One possibility would be "360-degree communication", and another would be to leave out "global" - but it would be helpful to see the full context.

Maybe? Low CL because of lack of adequate context

@ Dianajoy (in response to your note):
Sure, why not? I mean, consultancy is such an omnibus discipline that one can work as a consultant in almost any and every imaginable area; yes, translation included ;-)
On the web we have plenty of google confirmations for "consultant in marketing and communications" ( <-- consultant en marketing et communication) and if 'mass communication' is what communication globale means, then you can safely go ahead with this translation of the job description.
Note from asker:
Sorry about lack of content but it's all I have. Since it's a job title, could mass communications consultant work?

Is it really that simple? No special fancy term?

global communication; international communication

Although the term is in fact used for overall communication, this often comes within the concept of communication strategy e.g. une stratégie de communication globale = a comprehensive communication strategy or an overall communications strategy. The term also means global in the sense of encompassing the globe, i.e. international. It is a very common concept in this age of globalization.
Example sentence:

Je souhaite aussi aborder un autre point, celui de la nécessité de donner accès à la communication globale, ce qui aurait une utilité sociale.

I would also like to mention the need to facilitate access to global communications in order to make social benefits possible.

Note from asker:
Thanks for the suggestions, however in this case it's definitely not in the international sense since the person has no international experience on the rest of her resume and no international scope in her work. It's definitely the sense of comprehensive, but I'm not sure if it's commonly used as part of a job title: comprehensive communications consultant?

Note from asker:
Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately context is just a job title in char form, but it's definitely not skills. A _____ consultant, but what?
Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : It's not about communication skills - it's about marketing and advertising.

Which was why I put skills in brackets, not being sure of the context.
