Derived from shellfish

Not sure of exactly what CI stands for but chitosan is comes from shellfish as is used in weight reduction pill. Might be mentioned that way in this context to warn people who are allergic to shellfish products.
" It is taken from chitin, a polysaccharide found in the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It is processed by removing the shells from shellfish such as shrimp, lobster, and crabs. The shells are then ground into a pulverous powder."

agree DocteurPC : agree with the part on shellfish, sounds better than crustocean, even if my answer is right there ;-)

agree Dr Sue Levy (X) : I immediately thought CI=contraindication - maybe "allergie" got left out?

crustecean CI

I may be wrong, but I think that CI is just the element number of chistosan (which is glucosamine)
