What is a good way to say this in English? I don't think balance is quite the word that would sound good.
Context:
Comment vous est venue la " vocation " et à quel ensemble appartenez-vous aujourd'hui ?
Anne: Depuis ma 1ère chorale à huit ans et j'ai fait aussi 5 ans de piano. Aujourd'hui ça fait partie de mon équilibre. Je suis depuis 3 ans dans le chœur de Montjoie (avec 60 autres chanteurs dont Gersande)

it's not easy... in the French it's like saying that it's an essential/integral part of a balanced existence, a well-rounded life, but in a much less wordy way... in English when we talk about being stabilized, or finding an even keel there is an underlying feeling of instability... anyway, just an idea

A couple ideas. It's a toughy, because the phrase is so trendy that it is used in any context at all, without really saying anything specific. They even use it is bottled water commercials. It implies finding a balance between pleasure and work and family and whatever, but also suggests psychological balance. But the meaning is loose enough that it gives complete deniability - you can always say, "no, that's not what I meant".
