Stéphanie Soudais Jan 29, 2009:
Have you checked "Jean-Claude Beacco" on the web? It is never written with with an "é"!
Evija Rimšāne (asker) Jan 28, 2009:
clarification More details: actually, I need to know the pronounciation in Latvian, but it would be OK to know how it is pronounced at least in English. I am translating a text from English to Latvian, and there is this name mentioned, and since it is necessary to transcribe names of persons in Latvian according to grammar rules, I am not sure how to transcribe this particular surname. B D Finch, could you please tell me then what would be the correct pronounciation of this surname? It would be much appreciated! Thanks.

Like "merci beaucoup"'s beau part, pronounced as bo with a long "o"

After having second thoughts, the name above is not French, but rather Italian descent. If the name is Italian, it would be pronounced like "be-" as in "beta" and "-acco" as in "according". Or, there should be a accent over "e" like Béacco.
Note from asker:
you mean like: [boko]?

neutral B D Finch : Do you know the owner of the name? "bo" isn't the the usual French pronunciation of "bea"
