French term

mini-reportage

French to English Bus/Financial Printing & Publishing
is this a sort of booklet, rather than just a report in the Tv sense of the word?

Discussion

Chris Galtress (asker) Jun 3, 2008:
Sorry - it's one of those with no context. All I can ascertain is that it has editions in several french cities and they are selling advertising space in it.
Tony M Jun 3, 2008:
And what kind of publication is this, please?
Chris Galtress (asker) Jun 3, 2008:
Julie Barber Jun 3, 2008:
You need to be a lot clearer with the context! for us to be able to help you properly. ie more information - the original Fr sentence if possible - and more concise ;-)

advertorial/article

without more context, it's hard to know, hence the low CR.

But from what you say, it could be either of these. I used to write advertorials for a local group of newspapers, and this involved writing articles on businesses in as interesting way as possible in a bid to promote the business. Usually, the newspaper/magazine page would be based around a featured article, with all the advertorials surrounding it.

And jolly hard they are to write, as nobody wants to pay for many words, but they still expect you to cram in ALL the info about their businesses! And if there are lots on a page, it's hard to keep them all sounding different!

news brief

It is just a low-length column-space article, either a summary or a very short piece (often on a "fait divers"). The word "Advertorial" suggests a small paid opinion piece on a given subject. A mini-reportage is just a very brief story that is not necessarily advertiser-driven.
