French term
Cartonnage
French to English
Tech/Engineering
Printing & Publishing
Cartonnage : produit résultant de la transformation du carton.
Another glossary term. 'Cardboard' is on Internet but I suspect that the term for a printer's might better be 'hardbacking a book' except that I get no confirmation of my idea.
Is it putting a hardback on a book and what would be the verb if it is please?
Thanks

I'm not personally familiar with this term, which is why I initially posted only a reference comment and why my confidence isn't higher.

The GDT definition seems to indicate that it is the process, not the material. But, yes, I see your point, considering the definition given by Asker.//Thanks!

Définition
Emboîtage qui diffère de la reliure en ce que les cartons ne sont pas fixés par les ficelles sur lesquelles le livre est cousu, mais simplement collés sur les gardes quand la couverture est terminée.

Case binding is the most common type of hardcover binding for books. The pages are arranged in signatures and glued together into a "textblock." The textblock is then attached to the cover or "case" which is made of cardboard covered with paper, cloth, vinyl or leather. This is also known as cloth binding, or edition binding.

Discussion
The relevance to printing seems to be that the cardboard is then used for the book cover but I' m still not sure if the French word refers to the production of cardboard here or the case binding operation.
Thanks everyone for trying to help me
