Berley and chum are synonyms. Depends on location, probably. The Australians say that chum is American, however, the Florida link that I gave speaks of berley as well.

agree Gayle Wallimann : Chum and berley are synonyms, so they say in some sites. Some say that chum is US specific, although I've found both on various US websites.
