Japanese to English Law/Patents Law: Contract(s)
前提条件 here is the title of an Artile in an agreement.

When I hear the word "前提条件", I imagine something that is required before something else will occur. I usually use "conditions precedent" for 前提条件. However, the 前提条件s in the Agreement that I am working on now sound different.

Now, the 前提条件 described in the Agreement are as follows:

Do you think the above (1) - (3) can be called conditions precedent? If not, what should they be called? Maybe General provisions...I am not sure. Thank you in advance!

Discussion

Tim Oftebro Nov 5, 2014:
In contracts, this is often rendered as "assumptions" or "preconditions". I think Advance provisions sounds awkward and unnatural. Also Basic requirements is not quite the right nuiance.
Port City Nov 1, 2014:

advance provisions

I think "preconditions" might work it's more general and not as strong as prerequisite but agree that the following terms are not actually "preconditions" and are subject to change based on the estimate. Therefore I think "advance provisions" could work.
