Swedish term

prånglats ut

Swedish to English Other Idioms / Maxims / Sayings
...prånglats ut ... sedan 1994...

Not about counterfitting or fakes. It's about the quantity of an item.

Is it just "xxx have been pumped out," or something similar?

Discussion

Christopher Schröder Sep 16, 2010:
I think so, I think the best English term will depend on the context, but the word flog springs to mind.

utterly or completely

see Swedish Dictionary (English-Swedish Swedish-English) Routledge, London, Reprinted 2010.
It would be easier, if the complete sentance in the source language was indicated.

disagree Anna Herbst : ??? The question is regarding a verb - your answer is two adverbs?

foisted off

There could have been more context, but I would suggest "have/had been foisted off":
"foist off - sell as genuine, sell with the intention to deceive"
"foist someone or something off (on someone or something)
to cast someone or something unwanted off on someone or a group." The Free Dictionary (links below)
As "prångla ut" has a definite feeling of something not quite right, you will need an English term with that same feeling included. Another one could be "palmed off" or perhaps for American readers, "hustled"?
Example sentence:

Please don't try to foist cheap merchandise off on me.

Twenty eight per cent of the UK's pets are foisted off onto substitute carers in the form of family and friends.

Note from asker:
Thanks! I think you got it. However, for my text it sounds a bit off. Sorry I didn't provide more context.
Peer comment(s):

agree Anna Grynfeld Smith : I think foisted off comes closest to the Swedish expression.
