Compatibility between Trados 7 and Trados 8 (2007)

Given that a document and TM created with Trados 7 can be opened with Trados 2007, is the contrary possible? Is it possible to open with Trados 7 a TM or a document created with Trados 2007?
If yes, is there anything different if they are saved with Trados 7 and then reopened again with Trados 2007?
In short, are the two versions fully compatible or working with both might create problems?

Should be no problems May 22, 2009

There should be no problems. However, the recommended procedure for migrating TMs between the various versions of Trados is to export them into TTX or TMX and to import these files into a newly created TM in the target Trados version.
