Inserting the DeepL Pro API in OmegaT Thread poster: Jennifer Barnett
|
I have just decided to try out DeepL Pro on a suitable project, have the API key code, but can't find any directions for applying it. I found out from the OmegaT forum on SourceForge Net that it goes in the SVN (/trunk, rev. 10306), but where on earth is that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, it's paid for (or will be at the end of the month) and ready to go. I find the Yahoo forum thread layout difficult to follow, so am hoping for advice here. | | | Didier Briel France Local time: 12:35 English to French + ... Options > Preferences | Oct 3, 2018 |

Thank you Didier. One step closer. Jennifer Barnett wrote: Thank you Didier. One step closer. Your directions took me to Library > Preferences > OmegaT > omegat.prefs (on my iMac) Why don't you simply go to Preferences in the menu? Here I found ext_tmx_match_template allow_microsoft_translate false /allow_microsoft_translate wf_stopOnAlternativeTranslation false /wf_stopOnAlternativeTranslation wf_convertNumbers true /wf_convertNumbers allow_apertium_translate false /allow_apertium_translate I removed the > < characters. [Edited at 2018-10-03 09:02 GMT] Even if you wanted to edit a file, omegat.prefs is not the right one. In the main menu, go to Preferences (on the Mac, Preferences are in the main menu), and follow the path I gave you. Thank you very much Didier. Now much clearer to find. And the process couldn't be simpler. Applying the Google Translate key years ago was a nightmare by comparison! | | | jfnelson61 Spain Local time: 12:35 Spanish to English Can't find Deepl on the list of machine translations | Nov 29, 2018 |
EDIT: I was just posting this and found the answer: Deepl integration is not available except on the beta version (v 4.1.5). Unfortunately, because my client's corporate policy does not let them install any beta software on company computers, so I won't be able to use OmegaT with Deepl at work... Didier I'm staring at the Main Menu -> Options -> Automatic translation-> (list of MTs: Belazar, MyMemory (machine), Google Translate, Yandex, Apertium, MyMemory (human) and Microsoft Translator). Deepl is not one of them... Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks, John

OmegaT 4 is not really beta. (It's not labelled "beta" on omegat.org, only "Latest".) It is actually generally a least as stable as 3.6. The main difference (as far as stability is concerned) is that the manual is not up to date. So, tell your client OmegaT is not a beta. I have an DeepL Pro API and tried to put it in to Omega T. I followed Didier's advice and went to the "Preferences" option. Frustratingly, I found I could not "copy/paste" the API so I typed it in, character by character. The system seemed to accept it ... until it asked me for a "master password." I do not remember ever configuring such a thing. Thus, my question is twofold: 1) Where do I find/edit my master password? 2) What do I do if I can't find/edit my master password? I... I do not remember ever configuring such a thing. OmegaT is asking you to set a password. So all you have to do is type a new password on the box and make sure you don't forget it because OmegaT will then ask it everytime you open the project. I know that for Google Translate (yuck!) you can edit the ini file. Does that work for DeepL as well? I've seen that as well, in an 11-year-old YouTube tutorial. But I can't edit the .ini file, it says I don't have permission basically. It's likely something changed in OmegaT's latest updates. But the Google Translate MT works for me regardless. I've also seen online that DeepL doesn't allow people to use free API keys in OmegaT anymore, which is quite unfortunate.
