Source text - Romanian Cercetarea de tip corelațional este adesea folosită în studii. Corelația măsoară gradul de asociere dintre doua variabile, cu rezultate cuprinse între -1 și 1. Un rezultat negativ indică o corelație negativă, invers proporțională. Cu alte cuvinte, atunci când una dintre variabile creste, cealaltă scade, și invers. Un rezultat pozitiv indică o corelație pozitivă, direct proporțională, în care ambele variabile se mișcă în aceeași direcție. Rezultatul 0 indica faptul că nu exista nicio corelație intre cele doua variabile. Atunci când rezultatul este foarte apropiat de extrema 1 este important să luam în calcul și posibilitatea ca cele doua variabile să reprezinte același lucru, așa cum menționa J. B.
