Born and raised in the jewellery industry, I trained as a gemmologist and jeweller before working as a translator. I worked in the jewellery wholesale industry for 8 years before moving to England in January 1997. In September 1999 I moved to Germany, where I completed my studies as a translator of English, developed my knowledge of German to a near-native level and worked under the name of Schuring Translations. After moving back to the Netherlands 10 years later, in August 2009, I started working under a new business name: Lingis Translations.
Since 2002 I’ve translated manuals, promotional material, websites, advertisements, dissertations, press releases, flyers, brochures, newsletters, presentations, educational material and general prose. I edited three books on spirituality. In 2005 I started subtitling programmes for Dutch television as well. I’ve translated a wide variety of films, documentaries and programmes in the fields of lifestyle, nature, travel, reality, spirituality, history, culture, cooking, sports etc.
