No, because I do not want to take them to a site where could be cheaper translators.

Sometimes, I tell them to download the CV there or take a look at the portfolio (these features were designed to save us time otherwise spent in correspondence/testing). But, sheesh, Kudoz? Not even when I was top 5...

I am one of a very few full-time translators living in this tiny northeastern corner of the US, which gives me a small edge around here. I am not eager to make potential local clients aware of the proz site. In the wider world there are a *lot* of talented translators in my language pairs, and if the client located the site through my CV, they might -- you never know -- decide to pick someone else!

The ranking changes every day, there is no use to mention it in the CV.

I've got a link to my WWA on my own website.

I used to give proz as a reference, but seeing how things have become on this website (sorry to say it, but this is the truth), I don't think it is fair for me to inform my potential clients of a place where they can easily find cheap competition.

I can't even remember when, or what was bugging me at the time. We do some outsourcing, and receive an occasional application. We've found excellent people here, and created win-win relationships with them. But ProZ is nothing more than a marketplace. The credentials offered by the site canNOT be taken seriously, whether "kudoz", other points, "proz certified pro status" or "endorsement of professional guidelines". Some applicants write "have elite proz certified pro status" - as if that means "I'm better than good". As an outsourcer I feel that anyone who has to resort to ProZ as their best reference is still in kindergarten. My 2 cents c ▲ Collapse

And what about Willingness to Work Again entries from agencies/clients? Are they worthless/meaningless as well?

But, sheesh, Kudoz? Not even when I was top 5... My approach entirely - a time-saving reference, and not much more. As to the possibility of a client discovering a cheaper alternative here - I try to keep my rates in the mainstream or only slightly above. If a client is ready to take the trouble and fish for rock-bottom pricing, he'll do that whether I direct him to Proz or not. And if his only criterion is price, I'm not willing to work for him, either.

I send a CV only on request - for instance when a long time customer wants to include me in a team to bid for a framework contract.
