But then again, I am a translator. I am sometimes asked for proof-reading, but none of the others, as those are not services I offer. So I answered the question from a personal level, I get most demand for translation. I wouldn't know the answer on a more global scale. | | | Define "demand" | Jan 20, 2012 |
I said "translation", like Mary, because that's what I see. However, studies have been done of the translation market, and in volume produced, localization probably wins. Translation market studies are challenging and complicated. We, as translators, only see a very small part of the overall picture. | | | wonita (X) China Local time: 14:55 Which language pair sees the most demand? | Jan 20, 2012 |

But, as others have commented, I only know my services in my language pairs. Also although still a far lower percentage than requests /offers translation, I think I am seeing an increasing trend in offers / requests [so demand] for post-editing machine 'translations' of medical translations.

Why Translation? As almost everyone demand for translation, other services are according to the need of the hour. If good translation quality is produced, half the battle is won. | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 20:55 Spanish to English + ...
I'd like to think it was translation, but am seeing increasing demand for "proofing" or correction of substandard "translations" obviously effectuated by person or persons unfit for purpose. There, I've said it again. | |

I imagine it's localisation (which I don't do) in volume but I see most personal demand for translation though proofreading is on increase it seems. It would be interesting to see statistics on this if they are available! | | | Giles Watson Italy Local time: 20:55 Italian to English In memoriam Webulisation | Jan 20, 2012 |
By and large, people tend to have a shorter attention span when they read stuff on-screen. For a while now, I have had a healthy stream of income from "webulising" (?? I understand the question of course. What do we think etc... Answers collated would only be of any use if they are compared to what is acutally the case. Are there any stats on that? I suppose there are. Will feedback be given? The "what do you think" type of question is generally answered by what we have experienced, which means we are not necessarily answering the question put. I am not going to answer as I do not know. Like the others my response would be based on "Based on the requests... See more I understand the question of course. What do we think etc... Our civilization has too much paper with various texts on it. And as you see, everybody wants to add to "the heap". And as far as we generally like to communicate, translators and interpretors are of the first priority. But I guess translators are needed even more because there are more papers than people in our world, really! | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Poll: Which of these services do you think sees the most demand?
