You don't need Ms Word for this but you do need LibreOffice.

I have bundled the commands in a macro but you can execute the commands in the red actions manually in the Terminal if you want:

You will get one pdf file, ref.pdf, that you can load in Skim and control via some simple AppleScript commands.
