This week a discussion taking place in the "Kudoz" forum about askers who don't provide any kind of context (http://www.proz.com/topic/91618 ) coincided with a series of questions posted in the English > Arabic section with no context at all, apart from the term in question.

Although everything has been said in the above-mentioned discussion, I thought I should give it a mention here as well. I find it unbelievable that some askers are so persistent in not providing context, no matter how many times they are politely asked to do so, and for no obvious reason at all!
Some of you may not notice that it's the SAME ASKERS again and again, so you are so kind and do your best to help them again and again.
I know not everybody reads the forum, but would it be possible to make it an informal "rule" NOT to help these people out unless they provide the necessary context (and they shouldn't have to be reminded more than once)? Cause unless we can agree on that, these askers will continue ignoring our requests.

(PS: correction: It wasn't a "long" series of questions this week, as I initially wrote, only a handful. But if you look at all the questions posted by these askers, you'll find that it is a long series in the long run)

I go for ignoring such questions Dec 12, 2007

Dear Nesrin,

Thanks for bringing this up. This is what I normally do, ignoring them and their questions.

If they don't really care about having a proper translation for their clients, who else would do? Us? Under such circumstances, I don't think so because I don't.

Let it be an informal rule as you kindly suggested.

Good luck

Thanks Abdallah,

Not exactly the same issue, though related - one of those non-context-providing askers, who has posted around 30 questions over the past month, has suddenly decided that it's more convenient to close all questions without grading, reason: other. I wrote him a long note in the "ask the asker" field just now, so I hope he will understand. But if he doesn't, I think such inconsiderate askers should be completely boycotted.
