So, having spent an extra 6 hours on a translation, I want to know what happened.

I had got a translation on Wednesday: four files, two pptx, two docx. To be delivered on Monday 9UK.

Everythig fine, worked as always (licence through the agency).

We had server problems during the weekend (perpetual spell checking, difficult to log in, etc. it wasn't our internet connection), but nonetheless we managed to finish the translation.

I finish the tasks, and two days later the agency asks to approve the final draft (proofread in XTM and exported).

Now, it turns out that one of the pptx files had a lot of text missing, and I mean half the presentation. The other one was corrupted and did not display anyting but empty pages.
Big disaster of course, so we had to copy everything from XTM into the pptx files because there was no way the program was going to export it properly.

Looking later, the XTM file did not have segments in order, not even per page. So the text of page five and then the title of page four, etc.
The docx files were fine and came out fine too.

What could have been the problem?

Some details on the file:
pptx
had been edited by several people and saved several times, so was not written remotely in chronological order (my husband said that could have confused the software, is that true?)
contained an excessive amount of boxes and features (bad presentation...). Could this have affected the proper upload or proper export? I am willing to send some of it, if the agency permits it, of course.

Or was it just an accident?

If it was the client's document, then we better learn from it.

Any ideas?
