immigrantness

I think the best term is immigrantness, since it uses the same suffix as "otherness" (främlingskap), the quality or fact of being different according to Oxford's... Immigrantness gives a few hit on Google (see for example http://www.jcpr.org/policybriefs/vol2_num2.html) and although it is not a very common word, the google hits seem to lead to reliable sources.
Immigrantship makes me think of a boat, and the google hits also lead to several references to ships...

immigrantship

Eller kanske hellre the feeling of being an immigrant. Immigrantship kan missförstås som fartyg.

agree Terry Arness : the status of being an immigrant

Thanks, Terry!
neutral Peter Linton (X) : An accurate translation, but I suspect this word is not yet well established in English. Several Google references are from non-English countries, and others seem to be typos for fartyg. Reluctantly, I would abandon this and go for George's suggestion.

Thanks, Lars-Peter! I have, indeed, never heard it used either.

immigrant status

I have had 'immigrant status' most of my life, but who regards himself as an 'invandrare'? It's such a vast, anonymous and diffuse designation that nobody seems to regard himself as belonging to it.
Before the latest general election, a local political party sent personal (written) invitations to all immigrants in the area to an information meeting; nobody came!
Peer comment(s):

agree David Shannon : I'd much prefer this option too (just call me conservative).
