I don't smoke | Aug 4, 2010 |
Interesting question. Not one that I'd ever thought about, being a non-smoker!

I have tasted a cigarette as a teenage, and I didn't like it, still don't now.

The pipe is not handy while working. But I love to smoke pipe when reading.
No, I never smoke. I always buy my smoked herrings in the shop in the harbour... Another strange poll at ProZ - very professional indeed.

Some off-topic polls might be interesting but this one is totally pointless.

Yes, I smoke a lot. Not thoughtlessly and none of this stuff that you can buy at the check-out stand. I do like fine French cigarettes. Smoking fine cigarettes should be compared to smoking fine cigars (which I do too, BTW). Don't toss all those smokers into one pot and call them addicts. Or would you call a wine connoisseur automatically a drunk or wino? However, I love smoking cigarettes while working. It makes any creative pause worthwhile. ▲ Collapse
if i still smoked | Aug 4, 2010 |
i'd smoke while working! Nicole's post reminded me of that relaxing cigarette pause. However I admit I still smoke once in a blue moon....like on my birthday or social occasion but very rarely and not while working.

... and never inside. I smoke at powwows and conferences for instance (if I am not the only smoker). Amazing to see how easy it is to start a(n interesting) conversation with complete strangers, around an ashtray.

And not everyone of those evil smokers eats little children. My good old Zippo just made "Click!". The one that a friend of mine bought while traveling Cambodia. A very old Zippo with an engraving of the Liberty Bell and the inscription "USS Independence", so it must have belonged to a soldier. This Zippo made its way to Germany and is now back in the US after all those years. Fine cigarette. Click!

We don't enjoy food while standing up, right?

It's good to know we're all different — and alive! I still hope we'll all get to meet for coffee one day, and I wouldn't mind going to the smoking area for the occasion (although I don't smoke).

Two cigarettes per day :-) | Aug 4, 2010 |
I don't smoke while working and I don't smoke in the house, but for my partner and I those two daily cigarettes are a fun and relaxing ritual (one after lunch, one after dinner). To each his (her) own!
