Across does not support Chinese well. Thread poster: durbaby
|
When I am translating from English to Chinese, the most annoying thing is that when I am typing CHinese into the textbox, the "Save Changes" icon above is unavailable, so what I have translated can not be saved.
But if I type English(which is funny, cos it's English to English), then the icon becomes green (available).
So does it support Chinese well? or what's the matter? | | | Uwe Schwenk (X) Local time: 13:20 Ingiriisi to German
Which version of across are you using?
Are you using the server or the freelance version?
Which Chinese are we talking about, Simplified or Traditonal?
Could you also provide a little more detail.
Uwe

I am using the 5.0 freelancer version.
I am translating from English to simplified Chinese, PRC.
I suspect the problem is that Across doesn't support Chinese font very well.
The "save changes" above the target editor can not be actived when I am typing CHinese through a Chinese input module, but if I switch to English input module, the icon is immdiately activated.
I contacted the support team, and am waiting for their further reply.

My suggestion is why do we bother to activate or deactivate the "save changes" icon, leave it always on, then it is in the hands of the translators to control it. ▲ Collapse | | | Uwe Schwenk (X) Local time: 13:20 Ingiriisi to German Chinese support | Nov 23, 2009 |

I can not reproduce the problem and I tried with both Chinese versions. In regards to the fonts, I also have no issues.

Encountered the same problem | Apr 18, 2010 |
I encountered the same problem with durbaby. When I translate from English to Simplified Chinese, I type Chinese characters in the Target Editor, but the Save Changes icon does not turn blue and is not activated. However, if I shift to the English Iput Method, whichever key I strike, the Save Changes icon is activated. I share with durbaby the same view that across' support of Chinese fonts is not very well. I noticed that the font in the Target Editor is in English style, and cannot be changed.... See more I encountered the same problem with durbaby. I noticed that the font in the Target Editor is in English style, and cannot be changed. That, I think, is what causing the problem. ▲ Collapse | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » Across does not support Chinese well.
