Is there any character that I can use as a mnemonic in strings and that Hunspell ignores?

Hunspell sees the ampersand as a word boundary:
Is there any character (either visible or invisible) that I can use to define the location of the mnemonic, but that isn't considered as a word boundary by Hunspell?

Attributes (color, underline, italic, ...) are ignored by Hunspell but searchable by and visible to you.

Thanks, this is a nice suggestion. Alas, my CAT tool represents formatting with tags (that are handled as word boundaries by Hunspell).
In the meantime I've found a solution:
